Why do I need to apply for an ICE/IDC?

If you completed your education outside of North America or Western Europe, you must have your credentials evaluated in order to have them understood and recognized by educational institutions, employers, licensing and certification boards in North America .  A GAS evaluation will provide you with North America academic equivalents for your credentials and allow you to pursue further education or seek employment in North America . The IDC mirrors your actual degree to the international academia and so doing, elevates your credentials to the worldwide standards. The IDC adds an International Recognition to your Hard Earned Degree.

When should I request an ICE/IDC?

You should have your credentials evaluated as early as possible if you plan to continue your studies at a North America college or university and have not yet decided where to apply, a GAS evaluation can help you make that decision by showing you how your educational credentials are viewed in North America . You can use that information to apply to schools that are appropriate for your educational background. Likewise, if you are seeking employment, the ICE will help potential employers to properly evaluate your work application document for a job offering.

Do North America government evaluate credentials?

There is no North American government agency that evaluates credentials. Credentials are evaluated by universities and by private organizations such as GAS. A number of academic institutions have employees who evaluate international credentials. Many other colleges and universities require that international credentials be evaluated by an expert service such as GAS.

How widely are ICE/IDC evaluations recognized?

GAS evaluations should be widely recognized and accepted by universities, licensing boards, government agencies and employers throughout North America . The GAS evaluation system is based on the UNESCO education database. GAS evaluators are senior North America university administrators, mainly from university Registrar Offices with a diverse education background .

Does an ICE assessment guarantee that my credentials will be accepted worldwide?

While ICE is a professional and reliable credential evaluation service, some institutions and regulatory bodies will provide their own assessments and set their own admission requirements. Thus, an ICE assessment will assist you in your application goals, but it cannot guarantee acceptance of your documents.

What does an ICE/IDC evaluation contain?

An GAS evaluation compares your credentials with their North America educational equivalents. The evaluation is advisory and it is designed to help academic institutions, licensing boards and employers in North America to understand your foreign credentials.

GAS offers two types of evaluations:

•  A Degree-by-Degree evaluation contains a description of your credentials, including name, year awarded, name of institution attended, and major field of study. It also provides the North American equivalent for each credential you present.

•  A Course-by-Course evaluation contains all of the information in a Degree-by Degree evaluation and, in addition, it lists all post-secondary subjects with their corresponding value expressed in terms of a North American semester credit and grade equivalents.

Which evaluation should I choose?

In general, a Degree-by-Degree evaluation is sufficient for employment or immigration. Universities, colleges and professional licensing boards require the Course-by-Course evaluation because it contains the detailed information. It is always a good idea to check with the university, licensing board or employer who will receive your evaluation to verify specific requirements.

What is the cost of an ICE/IDC evaluation?

A Degree-by-Degree evaluation costs $120.00 and a Course-by-Course evaluation costs $180. If you require additional services, such as IDC (International Degree Certification), rush service, express delivery extra charges apply.

How long does it take to obtain an ICE evaluation?

GAS can complete your evaluation in 6 business days or less, depending on the type of service that you request. However, if additional research, correspondence or verification is required, the evaluation may take longer. We recommend that you start the process as early as possible and submit all documents as required to ensure the timely completion of your evaluation report.

Translations prepared by the school or university that you attended or by authorized translators in your home country are acceptable.

How does GAS review credentials?

All credentials evaluation applications are reviewed as soon as they arrive at GAS by one of our appointed evaluation advisors. If your application requires additional information or verification, you or your home institution will be contacted to collect the necessary information.
